Meet the Team

Isabelle Paige - Chairperson
Back for the festival’s second year, Isabelle is primarily an actor-singer. She has an honours degree in Musical Theatre Performance from Trinity Laban. Early on in her career she had the (somewhat flukey) experience of co-producing a sell-out show in the Edinburgh Fringe; she is unlikely to ever be so lucky again, but won’t stop trying dammit. She values theatre because it is the closest you can get to walking in another person’s shoes. Her love of fringe theatre is surpassed only by her love of her cat, Boo. During downtime she likes to eat Nutella with a spoon while watching RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Steve Bennett - Treasurer
Steve is now in his second year as Treasurer and loving every second of it! When Steve is not wading through figures and invoices he is running Clock Tower Theatre Company in Cardiff. After CFTF is over this year he will be taking a show to the Edinburgh Fringe as a producer, which he’s super excited about. Steve has always been a believer that theatre should be for all and he is very passionate about inclusive and affordable theatre. When he’s not theatre-ing or fringe-ing he enjoys football and a cheeky vino with a good crime drama.

George Soave - Assistant Chairperson
George is thrilled to be a part of the second CFTF. He takes care of Fundraising for the team, as well as coordinating the Cardiff Fringe Café events each month. When he’s not doing this, he is a Freelance Creative Producer, working predominantly with Big Loop Theatre Company and fitting in the creative stereotype of the ‘starving artist’. George S is one of the three Georges who make up almost a third of the Fringe Team. Yes, really.

Minty Booth - HR Director
It is Minty! He does the HR. Not much has changed from last year! He still champions creativity and inclusivity in ecumenical contexts. He likes drinks you can’t see through and petting every dog.

Duncan Hallis - Venue Coordinator
Duncan is a Cardiff-based freelance director and is a co-founder of Big Loop Theatre Company Ltd. Within BLTC, he primarily works as a writer and director, both devising original content, and staging published texts. He has worked with The Other Room in Cardiff, directing A Play That isn’t About Sex as part of their Young Artists’ Festival, and assistant directing Looking Through Glass for resident company Difficult|Stage. He achieved a First Class Honours Degree and an MA in Drama, both from the University of South Wales. Duncan is passionate about the enrichment not only of Cardiff’s artists, but also of its independent organisations and venues.

Alice Downing - Marketing Director
Alice is a theatre maker, actor and poet. Anything marketing or social media, she’s your lady and she wants you to enjoy EVERYTHING. She will also be hosting the poetry events again this year! Aside from the fringe, she has a first class honours degree in Drama and distinctions in the same at both foundation and MA. She works with theatre companies across Bristol and Cardiff and she is gleefully excited about the future of the Cardiff Fringe. Her passions include but are not limited to making non-human friends, tree climbing and making parties more awkward with her dancing. She also can talk along to every line of the film Labyrinth and considers it Bowie’s greatest artistic achievement.

George Goding - Secretary
George is a writer and director. He has worked as an artist in Cardiff for over 10 years. His writing credits include: ‘Service!’, ‘Adrift’, “Hooplygoops” & ‘Octopus’ (winner of the 2014 Shudders scriptslam). He is currently employed as an events Production Coordinator for CCC events team - helping to deliver the UEFA Champions League Final in Cardiff. He is very proud to be part of the CFTF team for its second year. In 2016 he was the Chairperson for the inaugural Cardiff Fringe festival. This year, he is doing his best to keep up with the incredible CFTF team who are building mountains on last year’s success as the team secretary.

Cory Tucker - Volunteers Coordinator
Cory is a freelance theatre-maker, scenographer and voice actor based in Cardiff. This year he’s running the YourFringe volunteer programme and is very much looking forward to working with you theatre-lovers to deliver a Cardiff Fringe Theatre Festival even bigger and better than last year! Cory is co-founder of Cardiff-based theatre company Big Loop and is constantly developing new material for Cardiff to consume. In his spare time Cory doesn’t have any spare time and likes to pick daisies.

George Nichols - Marketing Assistant
George is by trade a theatre director who is currently training at Birkbeck College for and MfA. In September he will be continuing this training as an assistant director at the Glasgow Citizens Theatre. Last year George’s company, Slipstick, brought their show Oddity to the Chapter as part of Cardiff Fringe, and he has worked at a number of theatres including the Arcola and Sheffield Crucible. George also works as Front of House Staff for Soho theatre where he tries to steal acts for the Cardiff Fringe by throwing them in the back of his van and driving them across the Severn Bridge. On the committee this year George is a marketing assistant and helps man the twitter.

Joe Burke - Companies Director
Joe Burke is a playwright and dramaturg from the plains of Wiltshire, who has stumbled from bar to bar before finding himself in Cardiff. He has a passion for theatre and his heart burns for it, but in his spare time he can be found campaigning for equal pay and animal rights, practicing stenography and learning Welsh. He is responsible for company liaison in the festival and general operational duties. Diolch yn fawr iawn!
